A social media post by the Boston 13s club has given rise to speculation of new Nines tournaments in June and August.
The 13s announced their return to active duty with a Facebook post (below) name-checking the “Delaware 9s” on June 25 and the “Toronto 9s” on August 27.
Little is known of these events outside of the social media posts.
Toronto Wolfpack remain part of the nascent North American Rugby League movement so there are doubts whether they would host an event for teams from the rival USARL.
But there are also doubts whether the northern-eastern USARL teams plan to stay with that organisation.
Two tournaments have been held in North America over recent weeks – the BC Nines near Vancouver and the Naples Nines in Florida.
