THE final of the 2022 BC Nines was a nail-biting thriller, Point Grey Thunder edging out Whistler Wolves 26-24.
It was in fact a day of tight contests at South Surrey Athletic Park as five men’s teams and two women’s battled it out at the start of the local season.
Point Grey and Whistler started their campaigns against each other, drawing 8-8. The Thunder then moved on with a 20-14 success against Valley Warriors.
The champs finished off the pool rounds with a 24-12 triumph against the Vipers and moved onto the play-offs, qualifying for the final when they eliminated Vancouver Dragons 28-14.
Vancouver Dragons were the queens of the women’s division, winning their two matches against Valley Warriors 26-14 and 22-12.
