NORTH Luzon Hunters swept all before them on the first weekend of the Philippines Nines but they were stunned in the semi-finals as the tournament continued in Manila.
The Hunters entered two sides in the domestic showpiece and the A-team lived up to its name on the first weekend of the event at McKinley Hill Stadium before beating the B side as the tournament reprised.
But Cavite State University Crusaders then ended Luzon A’s run with a surprise 24-0 win at the end of the group stages.
And the university side showed that was no fluke when it eliminated North Luzon A 12-6 in the semis. Manila Storm beat North Luzon B in the other play-off, by the same score.
It was then down to Cavite State and the Storm to battle it out in the decider, where the Crusaders got up – again by 12-6!
