NORWAY Rugby League has issued an open invitation to overseas teams for what it promises to be its “biggest ever Nines” in June.
The Haugesund Nines are being staged on the first of the month for the Alt Heis Cup in what Norway tourism describes as the “home of the Viking kings”.
“Still room for more teams … easy access from the UK and Europe,” Norway Rugby League said on Facebook.
“Send email to arne.torsen@hotmail.com including team name, name of team manager, email to team manager, some info about team … picture of team logo.”
Entry is 1000 Norwegian Krone, which is roughly 90 euros or £75.
Haugesund is a North Sea municipality situated on an important waterway and surrounded by mountains.
“It is “the base of power for Harald Fairhair when he united Norway into a single kingdom,” Norway Tourism proclaims
“It is also where Norway’s national monument, Haraldshaugen, stands proud on what is believed to be Harald Fairhair’s burial site.”
